The Washington Commanders broke out last year, led by a mix of young and exciting players like Jayden Daniels. They also had veterans like Austin Eckler and Terry McLaurin added to the mix, making the Commanders one of the league’s most exciting teams to watch. So this year, they have five draft picks to make things even more exciting. Currently they have the 29th, 61st, 128th, 205th, and 245th picks overall. They will definitely have to focus on their first two picks because, after that, it’s going to get hard for them to pull talent later in the draft.
Wide Receiver

This should be a target for the Commanders heading into this draft, and they can address that with either the 29th or 61st picks. Emeka Egbuka is really the only choice at 2,9, with Jack Bech and Jalen Royals at 61. So unless they trade up, you could see the Commanders skip on this position till their 128th pick.
Offensive Line
The old rule of thumb is to draft offensive linemen when you have a star to protect. What’s great is that Grey Zabel and Josh Conerly Jr. should both be available at the 29th spot. After that I’d say Wyatt Milum at 61 would be the next move.
Edge

One thing this draft has is a lot of edge rushers. Nic Scourton should be sitting there perfectly at the 29th pick for the Commanders to think about. If they pass on him then I could see them waiting till their 128th pick for Barryn Sorrell.
Cornerback
Maxwell Hairston or Benjamin Morrison could be the pick here but there’s two other great options at this pick as well. Being in a division with wide receivers like CeeDee Lamb, A.J. Brown, and Malik Nabers are a problem. Those options are Shavon Revel Jr. and Trey Amos, who are bigger and could put up with a physical receiver like the ones I mentioned. However, selecting Darien Porter at 61 would solve that problem as well so we’ll see which way they approach this position.
Safety

Everyone is looking for that next big safety that can do it all and the Commanders are just the same. The only problem is that there’s no safeties worth selecting by time they pick at the 29th spot. They can target Kevin Winston Jr. at 61 if he is available, but most likely be waiting till their 200th picks for either Craig Woodson or Billy Bowman Jr.
