The Philadelphia Eagles managed to avenge their loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LVII dominating fashion with a 40-22 victory to bring home their second Lombardi Trophy in franchise history.
Unfortunately, when a team wins a championship they often lose key pieces in free agency in the salary cap era.

Are the Eagles still well-positioned to repeat as Super Bowl champions in 2025?
While names like Milton Williams and Mekhi Becton weren’t exactly household names to NFL fans entering the offseason, they both had a noteworthy impact on the Eagles’ way to the Super Bowl in 2024.
Williams signed a massive four-year deal worth up to $104 million with the New England Patriots after recording two sacks and a forced fumble against Patrick Mahomes in the Super Bowl.
Additionally, Becton’s solid play at right guard helped spearhead a breakout year from running back Saquon Barkley in one of the premier rushing attacks in the league in 2024. This helped him land a two-year deal with the Los Angeles Chargers this offseason.

Fortunately for the Eagles, they should be able to rely on players already on the roster for the loss of Williams on the defensive side of the ball. Jalen Carter and Jordan Davis still make for an incredibly formidable defensive tackle duo along the interior of the Eagles’ defensive line.
The answer isn’t quite as clear at right guard with either Tyler Steen or the newly acquired Kenyon Green currently positioned to see an expanded role this upcoming season. The Eagles could still choose to address the interior of the offensive line in the upcoming 2025 NFL Draft.
Ultimately, this team still has the core of the team set in place for years to come. Jalen Hurts, Saquon Barkley, A.J. Brown, and DeVonta Smith all received contract extensions and represent one of the most talented collections of skill position players in the league.

Even with the loss of Becton, the group up front still features Jordan Mailata, Lane Johnson, Landon Dickerson, and Cam Jurgens — which is in discussion for the best offensive line unit in the league.
The talent on the defensive side of the football is both young and ascending. Nolan Smith, Jalyx Hunt, and Nakobe Dean alongside the aformentioned Carter and Davis forms a solid front-seven unit with a bright future.
Speaking of bright futures, Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean’s rookie years were outstanding — which helped transform a struggling secondary in 2023 into one of the stingiest groups in the league in 2024.
Even with some noteworthy losses this offseason, the Eagles still have an overwhelming amount of talent on the roster to make a legitimate push towards another Lombardi trophy in 2025.
